In connection with infrastructure planning for sub sea production and transportation facilities such as platform based installation locations, well heads and pipelines, it is often an advantage to execute a reconnaissance survey. A reconnaissance survey is executed from a surface vessel, and provides the operator with valuable information about detailed high resolution survey planning. By executing a reconnaissance survey, the operator can save valuable time and money by selecting areas of the seafloor with potential locations for sub sea structures. Based on this selection a detailed high resolution survey can be planned.
