The Galathea 3 Expedition awards contract to RESON for a SeaBat 7150 Multibeam Sonar System
Galathea 3 is the largest Danish scientific expedition in over 50 years. There will be a total of 71 research projects on board the navy surveillance vessel Vaedderen (‘The Ram’) when she sails around the World from August 2006 until April 2007.
The vessel will be equipped with an advanced RESON sonar solution. The SeaBat 7150 Multibeam
sonar provides users with the ultimate in resolution, performance and system expandability. The
system can be configured for 12kHz or 24kHz operations, providing a choice of both ultra high resolution
in shallow water and extended range in deeper waters.
Together with the new NaviSound 630 Singlebeam echosounder, the RESON Multibeam sonar system will give the scientists the optimal conditions for performing underwater surveys.
